In Korea, the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs found the existing address management system, which was based on parcel number, was not suitable for the operation of the logistics, postal service, and emergency management system under the recent urban environment, which grows very rapidly. So, a street-based new address system was considered with new GIS technologies such as Internet GIS. One of the biggest local governments, Inchon Metropolitan City government developed the new address management system suitable to this transition with various rules to implement address matching and an Internet service system to publicize it to the citizens. These new systems will minimize confusion caught by this change and be applied to various road-related projects, police, fire station, postal service, emergency service, and so on. This system is developed by ArcInfo, MapObjects, MapObjects Internet Map Server (IMS), and SDE.
