Work to create the components of an integrated hydrologic framework for the country has been proceeding for many years. The initial releases of the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) and the National Elevation Dataset (NED) are now available and efforts are now underway to produce NED hydrologic derivatives (NED-H) and the National Watersheds Boundaries Dataset (NWBD). Collectively, these data sets have enormous potential to help us more effectively manage our water resources. This presentation will explore how they can be used in conjunction with one another to enable improved analysis and portrayal of water resource information.
