The Development of a Ground and Surface Public Water Characterization and Modeling System for West Virginia Author: Jerald J. Fletcher 254 Lakeside Drive Phone: 304-291-1823 We have developed a ground and surface public water characterization and modeling system for West Virginia. Created for the West Virginia Bureau of Public Health, the system is a customized ArcView GIS application. It has three major components, which include an ability to delineate source water protection areas upstream of supply water, an inventory of potential contamination sources within various zones of critical concern, and the determination of the public drinking water supply system's susceptibility to contamination. Once in place the system will provide the ability to assess, preserve, and protect the State's source waters for public drinking. |
