FEMA Coastal Erosion and Flood Zone Study Author: Jay S. Arnold 3655 SW 2nd Avenue Phone: (352) 379-3001 The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently sponsored coastal erosion studies for 10 percent of all U.S. counties that are located on the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic Ocean, or the Great Lakes. 3001, Inc., developed custom GIS applications that integrated inputs from aerial photography, GPS, erosion rate predictions, and county assessor data. 3001's customized ArcView GIS applications will allow decision makers at local and national levels to view actual and predicted FEMA flood zones and their potential impact on existing structures. This presentation focuses on the collection and integration of coastal zone data integration via GIS applications. |
