Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI), is a multidisciplined firm with a rapidly growing water resources/GIS division that provides engineering services to many local jurisdictions in the Baltimore-Washington D.C. metropolitan areas. The region is part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed that is experiencing rapid growth where the land use is changing from a rural to an urban/suburban setting. The Department of Public Works (DPW) for most jurisdictions rely on antiquated utility maps resulting in frequent data loss and unorganized infrastructure management. GPI works with the local DPWs to develop digital spatial databases that are efficient and allow continuous updating, enabling them to properly maintain the aging and expanding infrastructure.
