Organizations across the country are moving to enterprisewide solutions to better manage their business. Data collection and data entry are the most costly portion of enterprisewide solutions.

What if you could replace labor-intensive methods with an enterprisewide capability that helps you collect data faster, more accurately, and more intuitively while saving time and money? What if there were a voice-enabled data collection system that allowed operators to create a virtual office wherever their work took them?

Advances in the field of data collection have progressed to the point where you can collect the data with hands free and eyes up through speech, whether collecting asset location and condition or generating information through form templates. Collectors now have the freedom to travel within their environment, while actively collecting the required data for spatial or relational databases such as geographic information system and computer-aided design or a relational database management system. Speech recognition may be combined with sensors to create multimedia data collection capabilities allowing direct entry into spatial and relational databases.

This paper will discuss the benefits of utilizing speech technology in a mobile computing environment to collect the data required in implementing enterprisewide solutions to effectively manage your business.
