A Model for Integrated Local Government Applications Author: Mark Epstein 6399 South Fiddler's Green Circle Phone: 303.741.8400 As GIS and other system tools improve and mature, the industry standard is moving toward integrated applications that represent a "best" design and can be repeated or used by numerous local governments. While repeatable applications may not be "shrink wrap," enough repeatability can be achieved to lower implementation costs, provide faster implementation, and assure reduced risks to the individual project. This paper will present a model of an integrated design for local governments. Increased integration of technologies and applications in the future will be required to achieve the business benefits associated with spatial technologies. The overall goal will be a discussion and overview of a leading edge model for local governments that will improve future approaches to implementation. |
