In addition to the campus part covering 100 hectares there is also a lake in the METU land of 4,255 hectares. To help the university administration, this area is being put in GIS. So far the following are collected and prepared as different ArcInfo coverages: contour lines, stream network, geology, hydrogeology, vegetal cover, roads (classified as asphalt, concrete, etc.), and buildings (classified as academic buildings, dormitories, etc., with different databases). The completed parts of this ongoing project will be presented and experiences of similar works will be shared for better results. |
