Hillsborough County's Roadway Asset GIS Author: Kurt Novak 1275 Kinnear Road, Suite 109 Phone: 614 487 3636 The Public Works Department of Hillsborough County, Florida, made a decision to employ state-of-the-art asset management technology to maintain roadway assets efficiently and to demonstrate fiscal responsibility by accurately accounting for the actual cost of maintaining its infrastructure along County roads. The advance of mobile mapping technology from TRANSMAP allows the County to conduct a comprehensive infrastructure survey along all 3,000 miles of County roads in less than one year. They will utilize Hansen's infrastructure management software for work management, for valuing assets, and for preventive maintenance. Hillsborough County will see an accelerated payback for the initial investment and be accountable for the proper maintenance of its expensive assets. |
