Abstract
Using ArcView GIS 3.2 to Monitor and Analyze the Environmental Impact of Public Transportation in the Greater Copenhagen Area

Copenhagen Transport is responsible for the planning and development of public bus transportation in the greater Copenhagen area. Copenhagen Transport has been provided with a valuable and easy-to-use tool for reducing the environmental impact of the public transportation system in the area, when existing GIS data is combined with data related to the emission of certain pollutants. Pollutant emission is an important parameter when decisions about new types of buses to be used are made. Furthermore, when environmental data is combined and displayed together with demographic data, it is possible to identify the areas where the most people will benefit from reduced pollution.
