Abstract
An Approach to Integrating ArcGIS Energy with ABB CADOPS

Although industry leaders Esri and ABB have had a presence in Energy
Utilities for a significant number of years, efforts to integrate Esri's
ArcInfo and ABB's CADOPS to leverage the benefits of the two systems has
been sporadic. The release of Esri's leading edge ArcGIS now enables
employment of industry-standard IT approaches and tools to interface these
systems, creating an environment to move GIS-based network data into the
CADOPS analysis world. This paper explores the approach to this endeavor,
including gap analysis, use-case modeling, software architecture, user
interface design, and work/data flow, all done in a collaborative
development environment. GeoIT will also present deployment scenarios and
future directions of development.
