The Revision Priority Assessment Tool is a GIS application that has been developed to assist USDA Forest Service planners in determining funding priorities for Forest Plan revisions. The tool is designed for non-GIS users, generally at the regional or national level, who are tasked with determining which units should receive priority funding for Forest Plan revisions. The tool uses national-level data sets that are identified as criteria for determining revision priorities. With easy-to-follow menus, the user can select which layers to include and can then assign weights and reclassification values. The tool uses ARC GRID to run the analysis and ArcView to display the output map, and a series of reports will list which units are most impacted by the criteria set by the user. Through a few easy-to-use menus, this tool demonstrates how non-GIS users can perform complex GIS overlays to assist them in the planning process.
