Abstract
Developing Base Data with Grant Funding for Hazard Mitigation

The Ventura County Planning Division received funds from the California Resources Agency Coastal Resource Grant Program and the FEMA HMGP Hazard Mitigation grant program. These grants were an important supplement to the Division's regular GIS funding. The grants paid for digitizing natural hazards such as landslides and soil liquefaction; collection and digitization of data from multiple agencies and companies with information on pipeline and energy facilities; and GIS equipment. The resulting maps and data layers will be used to update the County General Plan, coordinate hazard mitigation with other government agencies, and deliver additional information to the public.
