Abstract
Enhanced National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) Through Spatial and Attribute Crosswalks

This NSDI Framework Demonstration Project will develop procedures and business plans to enhance and maintain the WV NHD. This project will integrate local data developed over several decades to enhance NHD in two significant ways. The spatial crosswalk to higher-resolution hydrography features is developed using conflation techniques, and the attribute crosswalks are developed for the WV hierarchical stream coding system as well as the USGS' gauging station network. Additionally, an ArcIMS-based Internet information system will support local, regional, and national access to distributed stream-related databases. Canaan Valley Institute; ProLogic, Inc.; and the WV Statewide GIS Coordinator lead this demonstration project.
