Abstract
Success Stories: Federal Civil Applications of High-Resolution Satellite Imagery

This paper presents an overview of federal civil government geospatial applications of new high-resolution satellite imagery. The federal civil government has proven to be an early adopter of the new 1m commercial satellite imagery that became available within this past year. Examples will be provided of how agencies have utilized this new source of image data to improve the currency and accuracy of geospatial data sets (e.g., basemap updates, land use/land cover change, shoreline and near-shore mapping, GIS Web mapping, TIGER upgrades, agricultural monitoring, disaster response, etc.).
