Abstract

Obtaining Flood Inundation Maps Using GIS Techniques
Track: Water Resources
Author(s): Nurünnisa USUL, Ipek Baga

Türkiye has frequent flood problems due to the topographic situation and the rainfall regimes. In addition, the increase in urbanization around waterways caused floods to be more dangerous in the recent years. Heavy rains, especially in the spring, cause high flows, and sometimes big floods in Çaybogazi Stream, which flows to the Mediterranean Sea in the southwest of Anatolia. This study deals with the flood analysis in the Çaybogazi basin covering the hydrological, hydraulic, and floodplain modeling of the basin by using GIS techniques and MIKE 11 model, and a generation of flood inundation maps.
