Abstract
City of Grapevine: Starting from Scratch

The City of Grapevine, Texas (population 30,000+) is in the second phase of implementing an enterprise GIS. In April 1999, the City received a government grant from Esri. A few months later, the City acquired the services of IT Nexus, Inc., to develop a plan to implement an enterprise GIS over a three-year period. This presentation will detail the methodology behind the development of the City of Grapevine's enterprise GIS. Topics of discussion will include the needs assessment, the implementation plan, hardware/software acquision, staffing, database design, data conversion, and application development.
