Track: Health and Human Services
Author(s): Abdullah Hussein Alkadi

The disabled are part of every society, where they comprise 6 to 10 percent. Hence, in many countries, the disabled persons are receiving some attention from the officials as well as the community. Saudi Arabia is one of the countries that is now putting a lot of efforts in to providing services for the disabled persons. However, the lack of information about the number and locations of the disabled persons precludes the provision of the proper services for the disabled persons. This study uses GPS to locate the residences of the disabled persons in Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. The GPS is used due to the lack of a digital map as well as street addresses. Then ArcView is utilized to analyze the types and locations of the disabled persons, which will help the related governmental and private agencies to have a better picture of the magnitude and distribution of the disabled persons.
