Abstract
Application Development for an Enterprise GIS
Track: Application Development

This paper will describe continuing Enterprise GIS development work at the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. We will describe our adaptations of the Unified Software Development Process (USDP) in our efforts to develop and deploy enterprisewide GIS applications. We will discuss user needs analysis, migrating existing GIS applications to ArcGIS 8, iterative application development, and thin client deployment architectures. Specific examples of our process in action will include the Maine Oil Spill Information System (MOSIS), Threats Undermining Groundwater Supplies (THUGS), and the Maine Atlas Creation
