Extending ArcInfo Functionality: Tracing the Extended Data ModelTrack: Telecommunications

Network Engineer 2 customizes the ArcInfo Network Object Model beyond the standard geometric network. The application of the model to a telecommunications network, with many signal carrying units in each geometric network feature, provides for support of the basic geometry as well as the nested configuration of infrastructure, cabling, and transmedia. This paper addresses the merits and limitations of the ArcInfo Network Object Model and discusses an approach to extending the model for use in a telecommunications application.
