Abstract
EPA DRG Tools: Simplicity and Power
Track: Cartography and Map Production

EPA Region 9 enhances its cartographic products with the use of digitized USGS Topographic Maps (DRGs). A set of powerful custom enhancements, winner of the 2000 Esri Avenue Application Contest, has been developed to make the addition and manipulation of DRGs at various scales simple and intuitive. These functions include the ability to add maps to ArcView with a point-and-click interface, turn map collar information on or off, optimize map colors for printing, and isolate specific map features. This paper presents the methods used to develop these enhancements and how they can be implemented in other settings.
