Abstract
Managing an Enterprise GIS: Another Perspective
Track: System Implementation for GIS

The technical aspects of designing and deploying an ArcGIS 8/ArcFM 8 enterprise GIS solution have received tremendous focus. The boundary conditions for the new generation of ArcGIS 8 technology have been explored and extended. Many of the software, hardware, and database management issues of the new GIS have been closely examined. With new technical management challenges have come new organizational and project management hurdles. The authors will attempt to address the nontechnical management issues encountered in the ArcGIS 8/ArcFM 8 project, including the designing and maintaining of the core project team, cultivating the skill sets required, and setting and managing expectations.
