Abstract
The Arc Platform in the TDSB

In 1999, the Toronto District School Board (with 300,000 students) received a site license for administrative and school use of most Esri products. This paper will examine some of the key uses of Esri GIS in the TDSB, including applications in
- Applied research such as development of the Learning Opportunities Index for allocation distribution
- Planning such as the Network Analyst extension of ArcView 3.2
- The schools as part of the Ontario geography curriculum in elementary and secondary schools
Also discussed will be the use of ArcIMS as part of an interactive Web-based system for the TDSB Intranet.
