Abstract
Implementing Straight Line Diagram Using ArcGIS for State DOT

A prototype automated mapping system is developed for Georgia Department of Transportation to implement statewide Straight Line Diagram to map road inventory data and provide report to the users. The system is anticipated to considerably improve the viewing of characteristics of the roadway by a wide variety of personnel in such agencies. This paper is focused on details of implementing this mapping system using ArcGIS, and should be of interest to many others who anticipate development of similar products.
