Abstract

How to Sell GIS to Audiences with Little GIS Understanding
Track: System Implementation for GIS
Author(s): Brian Rusch

This presentation, using more than 50 PowerPoint slides shows how to sell a GIS project. (Points covered include GIS Effectiveness, GIS Efficiencies, Macro/Micro GIS use, etc.) Historically, groups/individuals holding important purse strings for GIS projects know little about GIS specifics. Often GIS is perceived as expensive visual "fluff" instead of the viable visual communication/business/modeling tool it truly is. Political/Budgetary need for specific value in dollars and cents must be addressed, and it is up to the GIS practitioner to successfully sell the audience on GIS value and merits in terms they understand. This presentation shows how.
