Abstract
Internet Street Map Editing & Maintenance Using ArcIMS and ArcSDE

In maintaining and selling a nationwide street database, clients frequently acquire local information concerning new streets, which is vital in applications such as in-car navigation and routing, and which needs to be in our database. To facilitate rapid assimilation of this information, an Internet editing application and mechanism to transfer digtial resources was developed. The system utilizes ArcSDE, ArcIMS, and Safe Software's Spatial Direct as the backbone. It allows the addition or modification of streets and provides feedback to the user once this information is QCed and integrated in the database.
