Abstract
Educating the Community in GIS Concepts and Applications
Track: Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice

The education of community and civic groups to the concepts, applications, and usefulness of GIS, primarily in the areas of law enforcement and urban planning, is essential. A model presentation will be provided touching key GIS concepts and examples used in law enforcemnent and urban planning. The importance of combining these two disciplines will be stressed to assist with community decision making and improving the quality of life.
