Abstract
Building an ArcGIS Water/Sewer/Storm Database for the Oakland County Drain Commission
Track: Water Distribution, Wastewater, and Stormwater

The Oakland County Drain Commissioner's office is embarking on an ambitious project to create a comprehensive infrastructure GIS to manage its water, sewer, and storm infrastructure scattered across Oakland County. The GIS is being built in an ArcGIS 8.x geodatabase environment. The database is being designed in such a way that it can be used by the other 61 units of government within Oakland County as a foundation for development of their GIS data. This presentation will document the progress of the GIS to date including
- Development of a GIS technology plan
- Development of proposed business process improvements
- Development of the geodatabase design, progress of the conversion pilot project
