Abstract
Using ArcObjects for Automated Mapping in ArcGIS 8.1

The purpose of this paper is to display the methodology used in creating an application with ArcObjects for a project that requires many maps and statistics to be generated. In this case, the application creates multiple layouts displaying crime data and statistics in public housing areas. This work is done for HUD in the Public Housing Authorities and Police: Partnerships for Crime Prevention in Public Housing Using GIS Project. The application automates cartographic and statistical tasks so that multiple maps are produced quickly and accurately. The paper will present the ArcMap VBA application that facilitates automated mapping for the user.
