Abstract
Creation of the 106th/107th Congressional District Atlas
Track: Census and Geo-Demographics

This presentation outlines the creation and use of the AML-based mapping system developed to create the 106th/107th Congressional District Atlas (CD-ROM product). Four mapping system components and the concepts and requirements for each are presented in detail. Special emphasis is given to the integration of a custom Maplex and Visual Basic application used for automated text placement during the names placement and editing phases of the project. Technical issues encountered throughout the project and plans for overcoming them in the development of future mapping systems are discussed.
