Abstract

Using ArcGIS to SPLAT Your Way to Success
Track: Database Design, Automation, and Management
Author(s): Susan Smith-Lee, Damon Loboi

In 1999, PSEG began a process of using ArcGIS to support a proposed OMS. Following the success of the Electric GIS/OMS deployment and in pursuit of a fully integrated SAP workbench solution, PSEG started to implement its Distribution Works Management System (DWMS). The PSEG team, working with ASI, decided to use Spatial Locate Attribution Technology (SPLAT) to validate and clean up multiple data sources in preparation of that data being moved into this ERP system. This presentation will cover the process PSEG used to prepare its data utilizing ArcGIS. It will touch on the challenges and strategies that are being used to make DWMS a success.
