Abstract
Spatially Extending Govern Software's Land Management Solution Using MapObjects

Govern Software is an enterprisewide client/server land management solution for departmental land/property/billing record management reporting, and work flow coordination. The software suite is currently integrated with ArcView GIS 3.x and 8.x. Since ArcView functionality exceeds the needs of many existing and future Govern users, a lightweight, integrated GIS component based on Esri's MapObjects technology has been developed and is being embedded within Govern. This presentation will discuss GeoAnalytics, and Govern's joint effort and lessons learned in spatially extending an existing
COM-based commercial software solution. Specific issues and opportunities relevant to the development, integration, deployment, and support of this spatial extension will be covered.
