Abstract

Implementation of the Civil Engineering Planning Information System
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Author(s): Michael Broten, Alex Hinojos

Yokota Air Force Base has integrated all projected infrastructure maintenance, repairs and construction for a 3.2 billion complex in a Civil Engineering Planning Information System (CEPIS). All current and future work is tracked to allow for a coordinated, efficient, and unified maintenance effort by the 750-person maintenance operation. From the highest level of decision mading by senor leaders about major, multimillion dollar construction projects to the day-to-day maintenance and replacement by individual shop supervisors, all decisions are made with the support of the CEPIS. This information system has greatly reduced inefficiencies, duplication of effort, and the wasteful use of resources.
