Abstract

Accuracy Requirements of Commercial Street Databases for Measuring Wireless QoS
Track: Telecommunications
Author(s): Steve Lytle

Wireless telecommunication service providers are continually documenting their existing wireless coverage assets and bringing new ones onboard for service deployment. The asset's location characteristics are, by their very nature, some if not the most important aspects of the documentation process. But once the coverage asset's location is precisely established, one of the most critical "next steps" becomes measuring its Quality of Service (QoS) and establishing its relationship to other fixed and mobile assets that are important to quality service delivery. In most cases the street database becomes the reference framework for this relationship. Several QoS implementations will be reviewed with particular emphasis on the positional accuracy requirements of the street database.
