Abstract

A Tale of Two Centerlines: The Cleanup Process
Track: State and Local Government
Author(s): Elliot Joiner

Over the years, the City of Jacksonville, Florida, managed to create three disparate geographic centerline files and three disparate street database files. Using ArcGIS and SDE, a team of GIS analysts and technicians consolidated all of the differing data sets into one then scrubbed and QC'd it. An ArcMap project customized by an Esri programmer analyst was used to accomplish the task. Only one standardized data set now exists and it meets all of the City's GIS and database needs. This paper documents every step of the way from the beginning of the project to the end.
