Abstract
Canaan Valley Institute (CVI) Spatial and Aspatial Knowledge Base

CVI fosters local decision-making in support of sustainable communities in the Mid-Atlantic Highlands. CVI is a not-for-profit, non-advocacy organization committed to helping communities implement locally determined solutions that affect their economic and environmental resources. CVI and our contractor ProLogic jointly developed an Intranet-based Knowledge Base to capture, maintain, and retrieve knowledge about our contacts, projects, organizations, issues, and resources. These aspatial entities also capture relationships with each other and geographic entities such as counties, streams, multi-resolution watersheds, and communities. Esri ArcIMS technology is integrated with Active Server Pages (ASP) to provide live status maps, comprehensive query, data retrieval, and mapping from our knowledge base.
