Benefits of Extending GIS Throughout the Enterprise

Since the early 1980's, spreadsheets have enabled millions of business
users across all industries and functional business areas to more
effectively analyze and communicate the results of business activities.
Geographic or location-based analyses based on GIS technologies offer a
similar quantum leap forward in understanding business processes and
relationships. Well-architected and implemented web-based GIS solutions
can securely and efficiently extend the use of spatial data beyond the
GIS analysts' desktop into the enterprise and to the end-user. The
benefits of extending GIS throughout the enterprise greatly increases
utilization and ROI of data assets as well as improves performance
through faster, more informed decision making.
