Architecture for Managing Vector, Raster, and 3D Geometry in GIS
Track: Database Design, Automation, and Management
Author(s): Dan Brockway

Vector-Raster GIS workflow. It addresses the conversion of vector features to 3D Geometry using 3D Styles; the creation of high performance virtual textures from imagery; techniques for using commercial tools to manage rendering performance at multiple levels of detail; techniques for realtime communication between traditional GIS applications and 3D rendering applications to support correlated eyepoint control, theme/layer display, and object selection and manipulation; the management of 3D model/symbol libraries and the publishing of 3D presentation materials such as still images, movie loops, and Web pages.
