Abstract
DoD Explosives Safety Siting Application

The Department of Defense has developed the Explosives Safety Siting (ESS) application as part of its Defense Explosives Safety Management System. This application is applicable to installations that manufacture, maintain, and srore munitions. Furthermore installtions that have munitions research, test, and evaluation activities can utilize this applicaiton. The application is integrated with the installation facilities management information system. It peforms explosives quantity distance (QD) computations using DoD or Service criteria. The compution results are dispalyed as arcs in the context of the installation map. Electronic submittal packages are created for approval authority review. The application also has explosion effects analysis to define the consequance of an accidental explosion.
