Abstract
Community Mapping on the Internet: Workforce and Business Mapping for Los Angeles

The Los Angeles County Economic Development Collaborative is one of six regional collaboratives supported by the State of California to develop a comprehensive workforce development system that will integrate the job seeker, employer and education & training communities. Based on a skills gap analysis and business and training inventory for three industries in Los Angeles County--metal manufacturing, food preparation, and apparel manufacturing--the Collaborative worked with GIS Planning to develop a visual web-based mapping system to allow users to research and find employers and training within these industries.
