Abstract
CATOS: The Enterprise GIS at Swiss Reinsurance Company

CAT Online System supports Swiss Re's reinsurance rating tools and applications with geographic locations, analysis, mapping, and capacity rating. Built on *net OLTP CORBA architecture GIS services are supplied using ArcIMS, ArcSDE, and ORACLE 8i. A Client Toolkit is provided to application programmers for easy integration of GIS and rating services into any Java-based application within Swiss Re. Currently the CATOS GIS server contains mainly administrative information like countries, states, provinces, counties, postal codes at various levels, as well as places. It is going to be expanded with risk and natural hazard data to better support the underwriting business.
