Abstract
Applying Esri Technology to a Data Warehouse
Track: Pipeline Transmission

This paper will discuss the approaches, results, benefits, and pitfalls of applying Esri technology to a multi-RDBMS, SDE-enabled Data Warehouse. The approaches of modifying the existing database to allow integration with Esri's data format and technologies will be discussed with particular attention paid to data structure and data modeling. The resulting applications and interface designs will be presented. The benefits of applying GIS to a data warehouse environment will be outlined. The pitfalls encountered while applying a GIS front-end to the data warehouse will be discussed including a description of operational, technical, and management solutions to overcome these challenges.
