Track: Homeland Security
Author(s): Dean Kaul

Consequences Assessment Tool Set (CATS), Joint Assessment of Catastrophic Events (JACE) and their new amalgam, CATS-JACE, are a product of Science Applications International Corporation, developed under the sponsorship of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC). This software was deployed by Federal, State, and local public safety organizations in February 2002 in Salt Lake City to provide emergency response support, including hazard prediction, effects assessment and response resource sustainment, and the basis for a common operational picture, pushed to the Internet for broader distribution.
