Abstract
Using ArcIMS to Track Land Use Controls for the US Navy

The U.S. Navy's Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) office is tasked with tracking the disposal of property for 178 base closures and realignments. These disposals required proactive prevention of risks to human health and environment by tracking properties with Land Use Controls (LUC). In response, Booz Allen Hamilton developed the LUC Information System (LUCIS) allowing BRAC to track these properties with an Internet Based GIS. LUCIS is the first of its kind for DoD and other federal agencies by using Esri ArcIMS technology and GIS to track properties with LUCs serving as a model for others to follow.
