 Production of a National Series of Aeronautical Charts Using ArcMap Track: Transportation Author(s): Beryl Pimblott This presentation will be on the production of a national series of Visual Navigation Charts covering New Zealand. These charts were produced entirely with the ArcMap application in ArcGIS. This paper explores the challenges associated with the specification, design, and implementation of a database approach to this project. Issues related to the establishment of a database including both topographic and aeronautical information, will be discussed. The challenges associated with cartographic design, methodology for production, and technical solutions for the presentation and publication of especially complex aeronautical information in a legible and easy to use manner will also be presented. This project was completed to satisfy a demanding user group who have the highest possible expectations for ease and flexibility of use and which must meet the standards of the worldwide aviation industry.
