Measurement of Fire Service Accessibility by Using GIS: A Case Study in Ankara, Turkey Track: EMS, Fire and Disaster Management Author(s): Kivanc Ertugay In fire cases, time plays a vital role. Time can mean the difference between losing a life or saving a life, or losing a building of a street or losing the whole urban environment. By such an approach this study aimed to measure and evaluate the time based physical accessibility (isochronal) of fire services in Cankaya district of Ankara, Turkey, in order to find out the insufficiencies of current fire response zones and define critical urban areas that are above the acceptable thresholds by using GIS. The study provides a vital way for decision makers to be able to take precautions in terms of fire service accessibility.
