Nebraska Emergency Preparedness Using ArcGIS
Track: Homeland Security
Author(s): Jeff Arnold, Chad Boshart

The Center for Advanced Land Managment Information Technologies (CALMIT) is working with the Nebraska Emergency Agency and Nebraska Health and Human Services to provide a coordinated geographic information system for emergency preparedness. The system incorporates ArcPad, ArcView, and ArcIMS to provide spatially-enabled decision support tools. CALMIT has developed custom applications around ArcView and ArcIMS to automate essential tasks. Both agencies have successfully utilized the system in emergency preparedness exercises and real-world events.
