Modeling Complex Temporal Requirements in Cross-Country Mobility Analysis
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Author(s): Michael Hendricks

This paper describes an approach using Esri software that models the complex temporal requirements often associated with cross-country mobility analysis. Moving beyond relatively simple temporal related mobility queries such as "to get to my target on time, when must I depart my location?" this approach distinguishes different temporal variation classes and the resulting travel restrictions associated with each. The most restrictive class is a requirement for the entire time, such as "be at the observation point from 9 until 10." The least restrictive class is a requirement for sometime, as in "pick up material from the supply point sometime between 6 and 11." These requirements can be combined in various ways, each resulting in different travel restrictions. For example, the combined requirement, "pick up food and be at the observation point", constrains the traveler's mobility differently than "pick up food before going to the observation point."
