Emergency Management Mapping Application: Integrating Data Online for Emergency Management
Track: Homeland Security
Author(s): Matthew Felton, John Morgan

Responding to a greater need than ever for critical geospatial information before, during, and after emergency events, the Center for GIS (CGIS) at Towson University has developed the Emergency Management Mapping Application (EMMA). EMMA is a data-rich Web-based mapping application built on ArcIMS that integrates disparate databases into an emergency management-oriented viewer. EMMA includes a variety of tools that allow users to visualize an incident location and coordinate ongoing response. In addition, EMMA has the ability to incorporate real-time data sources, such as weather, as well as OGC-compliant map services.
