A Great IMS Site Is Not Enough
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Author(s): GeoBase Team

This paper describes the approaches applied to attracting more visitors to an Internet Map Server (IMS) Web site. The Langley GeoBase IMS site is designed to provide base wide users with mission critical information for use in varying applications: from planning and surveying to building maintenance. Techniques to attract more users to the Langley IMS site include altering the layout of the out-of-the-box Web site, simplifying the interface and tools, as well as building very thorough online tutorials. These approaches combined with a progressive attitude regarding the use of IMS technology have served to attract an ever growing populous of web enabled GIS users.
